About us
A project born on set
that goes back to set.
Giacomo Piccolo and Luigi Risi founded GJFC Factory in Rome in 2025. Two technical paths, the same obsession with detail.
Co-founder
Giacomo Piccolo
Giacomo moved to Rome in 2021, after several years of travelling and working professionally in the film industry. He spent more than five years as a 1st Assistant Camera (1AC), working in parallel with ARRI Italia as a technical assistant.
A strong bent for the technical side — precision mechanics and camera systems — took him to the ARRI Certified User Training for Cameras and Camera Stabilizer Systems, consolidating an advanced command of preparing and running professional camera systems.
He went on to complete the master's course in prime and anamorphic optical system repair at COOKE Optics LMT.
In recent years he has specialised in optomechanics and cinema lenses, focusing on the repair, modification and optimisation of cine glass. A technical path that brings together experience on set, applied engineering and research into how lenses actually behave.
Co-founder
Luigi Risi
Luigi Risi was born in 2000, in the province of Salerno. Years on set as a Director of Photography and camera operator on television and film productions gave him a close understanding of what the camera department actually needs: the timings, the tools, the limits and the possibilities.
It was that first-hand experience that turned him towards lenses and product design. Working with glass every day teaches you to read it differently: how a lens behaves under pressure, what makes one dependable on a professional set, where the industry stops answering and where the room to do something better begins.
In 2022 he began working with the rental house Blackandlight as technical manager, going deeper still into the relationship between equipment, workflow and the quality of the result. Out of that came a clear conviction: that a technical object can be — and should be — rigorous to look at as well, built with the same care that goes into building an image.
In 2025, together with Giacomo Piccolo, he turned that conviction into GJFC Factory: a project born on set that goes back to set.
