About us

Born on set.
Back on set.

GJFC Factory came out of direct experience on film sets. We are Luigi and Giacomo, technicians specialised in manual lenses, with years of work alongside rental houses, DPs and camera departments. We know what a set needs because we are part of one.

Our approach

From a need to a tool.

01

Design

It always starts from a real need of our own — the need of someone who works on set. That is where the idea comes from, and the drawing board becomes our test bench: designs put under stress, turned upside down and redrawn until they genuinely hold up.

The technical drawing takes shape and becomes a 3D model: measurements, tolerances, materials.

02

Prototyping

Here the idea stops being theory. The 3D model becomes a physical object, a prototype you can assemble, use and test. This is the moment of truth: on set, under real stress rather than simulated.

Every fault is valuable information: back to the drawing, correct it, test it again, until the design proves it genuinely works.

03

Production

Only once the prototype has passed every test in the field do we move to final production. Finishes and manufacturing processes come in, chosen to last.

From the need of someone working in the field comes a tool built for someone working on set.

Frequently asked questions

Do you only make mounts and lens adapters?

No. By "Custom Solution" we really do mean anything: from a custom helmet for a POV shot to cheese plates made to measure for the camera, lighting or grip department. From a boat mount designed for your vintage boat to whatever it takes to bring home an impossible shot. Fabric to be sewn, aircraft to be rigged, specific accessories to be built: from 3D printing to metalwork, we design and make your ideas.

Are there limits to a custom solution?

No. The only limits are your imagination and the budget you have.

Do you only work in 3D printing?

No, we use whatever material suits the project. We work with outside specialists for particular processes and materials.

Are you sure you can build my idea?

No, but we try. We listen to the client and work out what the job needs: as long as it stays within the limits of known physics, it can be done.

There are cheap focus gears online that I can fit myself. Why should I choose yours?

Make your own call — we can tell you how we work. Every time a lens comes into the workshop we open a new project and draw the model to measure. Once it is ready it goes to print and gets tested, and the process repeats until we reach a prototype that satisfies us and fits perfectly. Only then do we move to the real build. Materials, colours, gear module, thickness and width can all be customised to what you need. It is the difference between buying an off-the-peg dinner jacket and having one tailored.
